Sweet Find

Where never shone a flashlight...

I found this lamp hanging on a tree in the woods.
It had been there so long the bark had grown over it.
I recruited help to carve out the wood
and retrieve the rusted relic.

My Dad helped me sand the frame,
and then we painted it with a flat black paint.
I remember the exact spot where we worked.
He finally found the red chimney to fit it
high on a shelf at an old general store.

I have cherished it ever since.
Not because it's priceless,
But because of the memories.
The memories of the find and the save,
and those dear ones involved in the process.
