Re-Acquainted

It's been too long since we got to spend time w/ these sweet grandbabies!
So thankful they didn't take long to warm up to us again :-)

Yellow as sunshine...

A new recipe...a new experience...a new love :-)

I found the pita recipe here
and the hummus recipe here.
They're both easy, healthy, and tasty!

Going to College!

My youngest son is off to college! He will be going to Florida, and a girl from church is also leaving for college in Oklahoma this week. So we got together
an ice cream party after church Sunday night, and made each of them
a money tree of bright colors.

   Flowers for
the girl,

and bow ties for the boy!

All made of
cupcake liners!

Pom-poms of
tissue paper!

My daughters did most of the decorations, and so many others helped
with setting up tables, providing food, serving, and clean-up.
We are blessed with such a sweet church family :-)

Crockpot Pork Loin Meal

Cook the pork loin w/ seasoning in the crockpot for 6 hrs. on "high" setting.
Lift the pork loin out of crockpot and add 1 quart water to the drippings.
Cut up 6 or 8 carrots and 8 - 10 potatoes and place into broth.
Put meat back on top of this, sift a light coating of flour on top of meat.
Cover with barbecue sauce and cook on high 4 - 5 hrs. till veggies are done.
Just that simple!

I served it with beans, fresh bread, and sweet dill pickles :-)

Resourceful

A broken limb, a bit of string,
A random grouping of shiny rings...

I needed a quick and inexpensive accent.
This mobile cost me nothing today but a bit of time
and the ceiling fan keeps it in a constant gentle motion.

Sweet Dills

Here's what to do:

Get a jar of large dills.
Cut them in bite-size pieces.
Drain liquid and return pickles to the jar.
Add sugar up to top of pickles.
Set in the refrigerator
for a week, or until
sugar dissolves
thoroughly.

(You may want to shake the jar
every couple days or so.)

It's a treat :-)

Face of a Dragonfly

I took this picture today...and as I was "shooting" with the camera,
the dragonfly kept turning its head and seemed to be
as intrigued with me as I was with it :-)
This was the best quality I managed with my camera,
but I found this image below on another website, and it's well worth seeing
if you're curious what the "face" of a dragonfly looks like!

Hammock

It is enough to make a baby drowsy!  Yeah...It would work on Nena too!
