From The Heart

Some sweet folks
showed up at our house yesterday
and blessed us with this beautiful plant
in this wonderful pot...

and even better, they wrote us a
heart-felt letter that will be a
comfort and blessing to my heart
for a long, long time.

So thankful that they encouraged us
like this. And reminded that I should
"pay it forward" by taking time out to
encourage more folks myself.

So blessed!

Stuffed Bread

Of course you can use so many things to stuff a bread loaf,
and it's so fun! This was made w/ the sourdough recipe found here

Winning Kalanchoe

For the last several years, these plants have budded only to be outwitted by a frost. But this year they
won out, and have bloomed
quite beautifully rather than
being nipped in the bud.

Pea Pickings

Picked out of our little garden yesterday :-)
Shelled the peas, washed and trimmed the carrots.
Boiled them w/ a bit of salt, butter, and honey. Oh yes!

Times Four!

On the World Wide Web, I found this recipe for Spiced Pumpkin Bread....
I multiplied times 4! Made four batches at once and made it in small loaf pans for gifts.
Simple, quick, and easy...
and all the ingredients were in my pantry so I didn't have to go shopping!

  • 29 oz. can 100% pure pumpkin puree
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups vegetable oil
  • 6 cups sugar
  • 1⅓ cup whole milk
  • 6 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
  • 7 cups all purpose flour
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons ground nutmeg
  • 2 teaspoons ground ginger

B & W Cookies

Just a simple sugar cookie dipped in dark chocolate... Black & White Cookies

For fuss-free and fast results, I used Wilton Candy Melts (Dark Cocoa)
Melted in the microwave for 2 minutes. Dipped. Chilled in freezer for 2 minutes.
Yes, it really was that simple! This was the first time I used the Wilton brand,
but I doubt it will be the last as I am so totally impressed!

It's not often that I see
these little birds in my yard...
though sometimes I hear one
high in the tree and can't spot it.

But I believe this is the first time
I've seen two at one time!
They're so sweet!

Lil' Window Garden

It's not like I had imagined it...
I thought these plants would
grow by leaps and bounds,
but it's been slow going.

Maybe that's because
I've been too stingy to "feed" them...
I guess I'm going to have to buy
some kind of fertilizer after all.

I have a couple Violets (one is in bloom), and a couple Christmas Cactus (one bloomed earlier), a Polka Dot plant, Aloe Vera, Star Sedum, Vicks plant,
and some kind of thorny Cactus.

I enjoy live plants in the house.
